Paul tells Timothy that all Scripture is profitable for four specific purposes: doctrine (teaches the path God designs), reproof (reveals when we've stepped off the path), correction (guides us back to the right path), and training in righteousness (keeps us walking on the path). This four-fold pattern is the framework for a lifetime of Bible study.
